About the author - Felicity McVay

Born in the suburbs of Sydney NSW, Felicity has always loved telling stories. As a kid she spent hours holed up in her bedroom recording fantastical tales, interviews and songs onto cassettes for her fictional radio show.

As a grown up, Felicity has spent over 15 years in media, entertainment and technology, working closely with international brands like FremantleMedia and Disney. Most recently she worked at Google, running the YouTube content business for Australia and New Zealand.

Felicity published her first children’s picture book, The Boy Who Burped - the tale of Barnaby Glurp, with illustrations by Caroline Seltz, in May 2020.

She started writing the book late one night in 2012 while feeding her newborn daughter, but finally decided to put it into print when she met Caroline and together, they were able to bring Barnaby to life in pictures as well as words. Felicity comes from a family of burpers and farters so this book is the perfect debut.

Felicity is a champion of wild play spaces for young people and STEM education for girls. She is proud to be working with New Holland Publishers and supporting the Starlight Children's Foundation with a portion of all sales going to the trusted children's charity, which aims to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children.

She lives in the beachside suburb of Bondi with her husband and three daughters, Milly, Issy & Ellie, (and a few giant sized cockroaches).

Felicity is excited to introduce you to Barnaby. She hopes you love him as much as she does!

About the Illustrator - Caroline Seltz

As long as she can remember, Caroline has had a pencil in her hand. She has always loved to daydream and doodle.

Born in Alsace, France, she studied Fine Arts in Strasbourg and later Visual Communication in Paris, before launching her career as an Artistic Director and Graphic Designer. But illustration has always been Caroline's greatest passion.

Over the years she has worked on several design projects for children, including live theatre, game applications, marketing products and greeting cards.

In 2017, she decided to swap baguettes for the Aussie BBQ and moved to Sydney with her partner.
She now draws inspiration from the natural coastal environment of her beloved Bondi and published her first children’s book in 2019, "Harry The Hairy Cow and The Machine Milking Monsters".

Caroline is excited to see "The Boy Who Burped - the tale of Barnaby Glurp" come to life. She loves Barnaby's sense of humour, but her favourite character is the tiny mouse hidden on many of the pages of the book. Look closely...can you find him?
